The Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat recently received a delegation of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps. The ERRC delegation was made up of Dr Raymond Xerri the ERRC President, Mr Mario Saliba, who is the ERRC Vice President, Mr Chalie Christ Abela and Mr Eric Grech, Committee Members and Mr Charlie Micallef, Volunteers Coordinator.
During the meeting, the delegation gave a brief outline of the projects the ERRC had coordinated since its foundation in January 2011.
These projects included Combat Medic Programmes, the organisations of Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support courses and Veterinary Life Support courses, all of which the Government of Malta was always a beneficiary.
Members of the Armed Forces of Malta Health Department, Malta Police and Animal Welfare Department were some of those who benefited from these courses for free.
To cater for such projects, the ERRC brought over to Malta specialised foreign instructors to ensure the best service possible.
The ERRC said that it would like to “thank the Government for its support by seconding two government officials with the organisation. Also in the pipeline there are over €600,000 in projects proposed, of which the Government will be the main beneficiary.”
In addition to this, the ERRC also carries out an Ambulance Service, health and safety training and Lifeguarding service at the Blue Lagoon in Comino, Ramla Bay and Marsalforn.
