Following the successful launch in June this year, of the Gozo based Young Business Entrepreneurs, it is currently participating at an EU level based competition entitled ‘Europe in my Region’ photo competition commissioned by the EU Commission
The photo with the highest number of votes will automatically win. The next 100 most popular photos, alongside a further 50 further photos chosen by the jury, will go through to the jury selection.
The Europe in My Region Competition aims to highlight the excellent work that projects across Europe are doing with the help of EU funding, and explore what these projects mean to local communities.
All the projects participating have been financed in some way by EU funds and therefore, this competition would recognise the best EU projects.
Out of the Malta entries for this competition, the YBE project is the only local project that is making it to the top. It is currently in 8th place, however YBE said that they the “require a lot more support and votes in order to reach our target – first place (there is a gap of 325 votes).”
Young Business Entrepreneurs aims to empower and assist young adults to foster entrepreneurial skills in order to try and generate a business activity by seeking new and innovative opportunities for the benefit of the society and the economy.

EU regional policy helps to improve transport links and broadband to remote regions, boosts small and medium-sized enterprises in disadvantaged areas, invests in a cleaner environment and improves education and skills. EU funding is also invested in innovation, developing new products and production methods, energy efficiency and tackling climate change.
