‘Il-Fjakkolata tax-Xlendi,’ the illumination of Xlendi’s coastline, is being held for the last time this summer, on Sunday and Monday, the 1st and 2nd of September, orgainsed by the Xlendi Administrative Committee.
This very special event, which is taking place as part of the Xlendi Summer Events 2013, revives an almost forgotten tradition as the rugged coastline and bay of Xlendi is illuminated with torchlight fires to commemorate the liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Patron Saint of Xlendi.
The Committee welcomes everyone to help and add their own torchlights or candles on balconies roofs and terraces. A little hint for balconies, large citronella candles also work perfectly, help keep the mosquitoes away and smell pleasant too!
The evenings of torchlight fires will take place between 9.30pm and 12.30am
