AFM medical evacuation from fishing trawler off Gozo coast

The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) Operations Centre said that at 1.00pm this afternoon it was notified that a person was suffering from chest pain and required medical evacuation from a fishing trawler
The incident took place 50 nautical miles North of Gozo, with the casualty being initially reported to have lost consciousness .
The Armed Forces of Malta Operations Centre in Luqa immediately dispatched an Alouette III helicopter to the position indicated by the fisherman in order to proceed with the medical evacuation.
The patient, a 41 years old Male Maltese National, was transferred aboard the AFM helicopter and was subsequently conveyed to Luqa International Airport. The patient, who was conscious at the time, was then rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by an awaiting ambulance for further medical treatment.
