GTA welcomes the cleaning carried out at Xlendi and San BlasThe Gozo Tourism Association notes with satisfaction, that immediately after the storm of last Wednesday, workers from the Public Cleansing Department within the Ministry for Gozo, were deployed to clean areas in the resort of Xlendi. This prompt action ensured that one of the most frequented beaches on Gozo, was kept clean and ready to be enjoyed by bathers.

The Gozo Tourism Association said that it also welcomes the initiatives taken recently by the Ministry for Gozo in cleaning up the quaint beach of San Blas after large amounts of algae were brought ashore by rough seas. This intervention once again rendered this little beach fit for the enjoyment of both tourists and locals alike, especially at this time of the year, the GTA said.

The Gozo Tourism Association added that it believes that such timely and well balanced interventions on our small beaches will keep our beautiful island competitively marketable with so many emerging, enchanting destinations world wide.

With tourism being such an important economic pillar for Gozo, it needs to be continually supported by concrete actions and measures.

Finally the Gozo Tourism Association said that it appeals to all concerned, the central and local governments, the private stakeholders and the public in general to look after the touristic product on the Island of Gozo.

I went to San Blas yesterday and a decent clean-up job had been done. However, this morning I wanted to go again but the kiosk was closed and there were no sunbeds or umbrellas for hire. What’s going on? Yesterdat, Steve from the kiosk mentioned some police problem regading missing stones from the beach…..

Seems a lot of large rocks were removed from the beach and this could only have been did with the mechanical digger. No doubt these rocks were taking up space that could be occupied by an umbrella or sun bed! As usual of course no one is responsible and each are passing the buck onto others.
