The Feast of Santa Marija comes to a close in Victoria

The Grand finale of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, also known as Santa Marija, was celebrated in Victoria last night
The statue of Our Lady went in procession around the steets of Victoria, with the participation of the Gozo Cathedral Chapter, Parish Clergy, the Leone Band, the Chorus Ecclesiae Cathedralis and the Cathedral Youth Choir.The St Gregory Band of Kercem played a musical programme in the Cathedral Square during the evening and Xaghra’s Victory Band played a musical programme on the bandstand in Independence Square.
Many hundreds of people filled every possible vantage point to enjoy the grand fireworks display on Gelmus Hill.
The evening came to a close with the entry of the statue of Our Lady, which was welcomed back to the Cathedral Square and into the Cathedral en flambeaux.
The Leone Band then marched from the Cathedral parish centre to Independence Square.
