Large crowds visit Victoria for the Feast of Santa MarijaVictoria celebrated the Feast of Santa Marija on Thursday, many hundreds of Maltese travelled across to Gozo to enjoy a day on the sister island.

Events included ‘Il-Wirja ta’ Santa Marija, the annual traditional agricultural exhibition, held over two days at the Villa Rundle Gardens. The prizes were presented on Thursday morning by the President of Malta, Dr George Abela.

During the afternoon the traditional horse races took place in Republic Street, this event always draws large crowds of both locals and tourists. The prizes were presented at the end of the races by The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo.Large crowds visit Victoria for the Feast of Santa MarijaFor those who wanted to spend Santa Marija quietly relaxing by the sea, then Xlendi was the place to be, where restaurants reported a good trade through the day.

      Well done .
      More nice places and events will bring more money to the island .
      Nice sandy beaches are a must ! Take all the stones away – tourists like sand not pebbles !!

      Walter I agree with Dietmar Treptow The Governments of Malta and Gozo should get off their ass and clean Ramla Hamra from those Pebbles , Who wants to sit on stones in order to enjoy the Beach .?? I say to the Government , invest some money in order to see some results . .. Tourists likes to see Sand, not PEBBLES on the Beach … When the government people going to open their Eyes ???? Hope it’s not when it’s too Late Gozitan From Xaghra . …
