The core executive members of the Gozo University Group recently gathered at the Ministry for Gozo to lead an introductory meeting for those students planning to further their studies at the University, MCAST or ITS in Malta in the coming academic year.
This meeting has been taking place annually for a number of years and serves as an appropriate induction for new first year students.
While the meeting usually takes place in the latter months of summer, the date for this year was moved to an earlier stage of the process of enrolment at tertiary institutes of education – this was done so as to provide students with all the necessary information for enrolment and also to clear up any queries or misconceptions about what is required of them during this transition.
The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, spoke during the meeting, reminding students to maintain pride in their identity as Gozitans and telling them not to be discouraged by everyday problems that they have to face in Malta. He went on to mention the many improvements in funding, transport, education and representation that there have been and others which are still being developed with the aim of continuously improving Gozitan students’ quality of life.
GUG ended the meeting by inviting students to sign up as members of the organisation and stay in touch through GUG’s website, Facebook page or email for news of events and enrolment.
