Ministry for Tourism launches its new website for the sectorThe Ministry for Tourism has recently launched its new website www.tourism.gov.mt, which includes general details about the Ministry, the Parliamentary Secretariat and its operation as well as information related to the entities that fall under the Tourism portfolio which include also the aviation sector, culture and local government.

These are the Malta Tourism Authority, Air Malta, Malta Air Traffic Services, Malta International Airport, Institute for Tourism Studies, the Local Government Department, Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, Mediterranean Conference Centre, Manoel Theatre, St James Cavalier, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Heritage Malta, Malta Council for Culture & the Arts and the Malta Society for Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.

The new website will be providing updated information regarding initiatives being undertaken by the Ministry together with the policies that will be implemented in the tourism sector, as well as new tourism niches that are to be developed namely medical tourism, sports tourism, religious and culinary tourism.

The homepage will be promoting various cultural events that are organised on a regular basis by various entities including those by local councils. Furthermore, users will find useful links related to the tourism sector amongst which include the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture as well as other links that provide general information regarding the Maltese Islands, the Maltese history, places of interest and a list of government services.

The media section provides a list of all press releases issued by the Ministry together with references to articles that are published in local papers, magazines and international websites.

In the coming weeks, the public will be given an opportunity to send tourism -related photographs, the best of which would then be uploaded.
