Azure Window ranked in top 50 of 8th Wonder of the WorldAn update is now available on the rankings of the three local landmarks nominated by the Malta Tourism Authority for’s quest to crown the “8th Wonder of the World.”

The three nominations are the Azure Window in Gozo, the Blue Lagoon in Comino and St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, Malta.

The current positions as the half-way mark approaches (voting started 1st June and closes 30th September) are as follows:

The Azure Window is currently in the top 50 out of 350 nominations. The Blue Lagoon is currently in the top 100 out of 350 nominations. St. John’s Co-Cathedral is currently in the top 200 out of 350 nominations.

Public voting is open at, a leading travel research website that is part of the TripAdvisor Media Group.

Please help boost the voting for the Maltese entries. Voting can be carried out for all 3 monuments once a day until until the 30th of September 2013 on

With numerous Tourism Boards, Chambers of Commerce and Visitor Bureaus sending in a nomination, the public is asked to vote for their favourite landmark out of the more than 200 submissions.

The wonder with the most votes will be crowned the winner. The winner will receive exposure through a massive media relations campaign push from VirtualTourist.

      I thought the seven wonders of the world were all manmade which would meant that the only one in the running here would be St. John’s Co-Cathedral.

        They are combining natural and man made wonders but much though I love Malta and Gozo there is nothing that stands a chance in hell of making the top 8 man made or otherwise.

        Have to say I agree. My personal choice for the eighth wonder of the world would be the city of Petra in general and the Great Temple in particular.
