AFM assists in rescue of 212 migrants to Malta

Update: The AFM’s Inshore Patrol Vessel P24 transferred 84 third country nationals onboard the AFM vessel and are currently making way to Malta. The migrant vessel was 38 nautical miles from Malta and originally the total number of migrants that were on this boat was 89 with 5 females being previously airlifted by helicopter, the remaining group is made up of and 15 females and 69 males. This group arrived at Hay Wharf base at around 10 .00pm tonight.
The AFM were involved in yet another rescue 33 nautical miles South East of Malta with the AFM’s Offshore patrol vessel P51 intercepting another dinghy, baring 40 migrants onboard. The third country nationals in question were adrift and their subsequent rescue was carried out. This group is made up of 39 males 1 female. This group arrived at Hay Wharf base at approximately 9.00pm.
The AFM’s Inshore Patrol vessel P21 intercepted another boat carrying 83 migrants (74 males and 9 females) South West of Malta and is expected to arrive at Hay Wharf Base at around 10.30pm.
