AFM rescues 68 irregular migrants including 13 females

An Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) Inshore Patrol Vessel rescued a group of 68 persons from a rubber dinghy, from a position some 70 nautical miles south of Malta.
The AFM’s Rescue and Coordination Centre (RCC-Malta) at Luqa Barracks, was on Tuesday afternoon alerted about the dinghy adrift which position was confirmed by an AFM Patrol Aircraft.
Subsequently, Patrol Vessel P-23 was directed towards the position to render assistance.
Among the 68 people on board there was one pregnant female and another female who had just delivered her baby, they were brought ashore on Wednesday morning at around 5.00am.
