The Gozo University Group has continued in its series of meetings with authorities by having a meeting with the Transport Minister, Joe Mizzi.
The main points on the agenda for the meeting included discussions on issues concerning public transport and Gozitans’ needs. The GUG said that as the meeting developed, it became clear that the students’ main issue, the X1 route connecting university students to Cirkwewwa, affects not only students, but also other citizens traveling to work or to visit patients at Mater Dei hospital.
The GUG’s plea basically entails the separation of the Airport route with that of the one for the University/Mater Dei, so as to minimise the waiting time for Gozitans going from Msida to Cirkewwa and tourists from the airport.
“Positive results emerged, as the Minister openly welcomed the implementation in view of the benefits of such an outcome,” the GUG said.
Other subjects discussed were the fast boat from Mgarr Gozo to Sa Maison and Valletta and the airlink for the island of Gozo. GUG emphasized that these two links are vital of Gozo.
