Regarding the article on Monday about the rescued diver in Xlendi bay.
One thing that was not mentioned was the fact that some of the Moby Dives divers were actually the first into the sea in the rescue operation and were searching for over 1/2 hour before the main rescue services arrived.
I know this as my son, Alex Gill, was actually in the group of divers that responded to the person who told them the 33 year old German diver was lost.
They put their dive kit on and ran the full length of the bay then started a search pattern looking for the missing diver. After exhausting their first tanks they returned and took larger tanks in order to continue the search.
The rescue services then arrived and shortly after this the diver was found. My son and his colleagues from Moby Dives had been in the water for over an hour by the time the diver was found in the cave.
I think it is important to recognise that these divers did not hesitate to start the search and should be commended as I understand the sea was not particularly calm.
