ERRC Gozo offers a patient transfer service to the publicThe Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo is offering a transportation service to the general public, including injured tourists needing transfers to Mater Dei Hospital or the airport.

The ERRC service includes a fully equipped ambulance transfer service, with trained staff who will also transport patients to private clinics, care homes, private homes, or between Gozo and Malta.

“There is a reasonable charge made for this service, but it is available seven days per week. The ambulance crews are made up of mainly young volunteers who give up their free time to help the community.

“This includes many who are currently in the middle of important exams but still make themselves available to the Corps,” a spokesperson for the ERRC said.

The ERRC said that it relies heavily on support from the public and last Friday, there was a collection on the ferries, this raised over €1000, which was welcome and gratefully received.

The ERRC concluded, “the ambulances are not held in a garage overnight but left in the road outside a volunteer’s home; this is because despite promises from the previous government, the ERRC are still waiting for financial support to acquire a permanent dedicated base on Gozo.”
