Fiori D’Argenta, a festival of culture & traditions in Xewkija

The 3rd edition of Fiori D’Argenta, a festival of culture, history, drama and traditions, is taking place over the weekend of, Friday the 14th, Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th of June 2012, in Xewkija.
The weekend event is organised by the Xewkija Local Council and the spectacular entertainment will be taking place in St John the Baptist Square as well as the surrounding areas.
The official opening will take place on Friday evening, when a traditional dinner will be held organised by the Fireworks Committee, with Cash & Band providing the entertainment.
Saturday evening’s entertainment will get underway at 8.00pm, with The Run Band, DJ Alfe Fabri, Melanie Zammit, with special guests Gianluca Bezzina, Keith and Christophe from Fellow Fish.
During the days there will be folk music, crafts, historic sites, hands on crafts for children, a falcon show and horse defile, exhibition of classic vehicles, to name just a few!
The historical sites open Friday to Sunday, will be the Rotunda Church, the Museum of Sculpture and the Experience of Gozo 360, from 9.30am-11.30am and 3.00pm-5.00pm. Booking is advised on 21558822 or 21565719.
On Saturday and Sunday evenings from 7.30pm there will be a Mattia Preti Exhibition at the Band Club premises in St Catherine Street.
The largest traditional ‘Torta tal-Bajtar ta’ San Gwann’ will also be baked, with a chance for everyone to have a taste and enjoy the finished result on Saturday.The Xewkija Local Council is inviting everybody to go along and enjoy the weekend of fun, festivities and events, suitable for all ages.
