Gozo breast cancer updates seminar held by Europa Donna

Europa Donna Malta (Breast Care Support Group) organised a one-day seminar for health professionals at the Hotel Ta’ Cenc in Gozo on ‘Updates on Breast Cancer.’
Experts in the field, as well a people who had experienced the effects of breast cancer, presented the latest aspects of breast cancer care and the group said over a 100 attended the seminar, which dealt with several issues related to this topic including disease diagnosis, surgical treatment, the perspective of the patient and family, communication between professionals and the patient and the treatment itself.
The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo officially opened the seminar, saying that although services had improved in relating to breast cancer, “we are still far from what we would like to see in Gozo.” He said that “during this administration Gozo will be starting new services, such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.”
He concluded his address by saying that what was discussed during this seminar would be beneficial in the form of proposals to enable the current Government to continue to take the necessary actions in this area.
The Minister thanked the Europa Donna Malta (Breast Care Support Group) for organising the seminar, as well as the dedication and sincere love and support shown by them to breast cancer patients.
