For the closing evening of Gozo’s weekend event, Lejlet Lapsi – Notte Gozitana 2013, not only can visitors enjoy the Malta Youth Ochestra Community Concert in St Geroge’s Basilica, but there will also be an outside performance of’Il-Klassi II Z’ by the Gozo Creative Theatre Club.
Il-Klassi II Z’ (The Class II Z) is being performed by the Gozo Creative Theatre Club as part of this years Notte Gozitana (Lejliet Lapsi) activities. The production is taking place in collaboration with the Gozo Culture and Information Office, Ministry for Gozo, the Gozo
‘Il-Klassi II Z’ is a traditional Gozitan comedy by Peter Paul Grech arranged into a musical with lyrics by Joe W. Psaila and music by Antoine Mercieca.
The story is set in a rural location where some of the children, who are cheeky and mindless, remain in primary school up to fourteen years of age or more.
This was a time when a visit from a school inspector caused alarm and change was not accepted. However are the students of Class II Z ready for reform?
The Gozo Creative Theatre Club is an established drama group which regularly produces innovative and creative theatrical performances.
In this production George Mizzi, the artistic director of the group, will be directing a splendid group of actors which include: Franco Scicluna, George Camilleri, Mariella Falzon Gammon, Darren Muscat, Marija Zammit Borg, Margaret Camilleri (k/a Morena), Ruth Bezzina, Albert Gauci, Joshua Grech, George Sacco, Mario Portelli and Mark Lawrence Zammit.
‘Il-Klassi II Z’ will be perfomed on Sunday, the 12th and Sunday, the 19th of May 2013 at 6.00pm in Narrow Street, Victoria, Gozo.
Entrance is free and the seating will be on a first come first served basis.
