(d) March of the Torreadors.
The Malta Youth Orchestra is the ‘sister ensemble’ of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and is made up of talented young musicians.
The target aim of the MYO is to provide an excellent opportunity for budding musicians to gain first-hand experience playing in an orchestra and, more importantly, to participate in the joy of ensemble music-making.
The MYO made its first public appearance in December 2004 during a concert held at the President’s Palace in Valletta under the direction of Michael Laus.
In 2011 the MYO was revived and on April 27 gave a concert at Sir Temi Zammit Hall (University of Malta) under the direction of its current artistic director and conductor Joseph Vella, meeting regularly on Saturday mornings at Robert Samut Hall.
