The Gozo University Group has recently commenced with a series of meeting with various authorities. The first meeting took place with the Pro-Rector for the Gozo Campus, Prof. Joe Friggieri. GUG said that it was pleased with the outcome of the meeting held on Sunday with the Pro- rector, during which topics most relevant to the organisation at present were discussed.
GUG thanked Prof. Friggieri for his indispensable work during the past year which had helped GUG move closer to its goals – namely the implementation and increase of the Gozo Campus exam sits throughout the past three semesters; a courier service for assignments and library books between the Gozo and Msida campus; and secure luggage holding space for Gozitan students at the University.
Future plans and ideas were also brought up in the meeting, including the proposed expansion and refurbishment of the Gozo Campus to create a larger library and lecture halls as well as the opening of a new B.A. course in Philosophy and Theology at the Gozo Campus.
These projects are welcomed together with the good news of a 400-book donation to the Gozo library by Island Books provided through Prof. Friggieri.
GUG said that it greatly encourages Prof. Friggieri to continue his work and that the Group will be making the most of such resources. The Group continued by saying that it looks forward to organising further events and initiatives at the Gozo Campus as in the previous year.
The meeting ended on a positive note with both GUG and Prof. Friggieri expressing enthusiasm for the continual work in favour of Gozitan students in Malta and Gozo alike.
