As part of the process leading to the drafting of an official document by the Victoria Local Council including proposals for the reform of the Local Governments, the Victoria Local Council is organising a public consultation meeting tomorrow, Friday the 3rd of October 2008 starting at 7.30pm within the Council’s administrative building. The general public will have the opportunity to voice their concerns and put forward their suggestions for consideration. Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary responsible for this reform on a National basis will also be present and together with Mayor Tabone will have the opportunity to put forward their opinions and answer any questons that could arise.
The Local Council through a committee for reform made of ex Victoria Mayors together with the present Mayor drafted a document on the subject including twenty proposals which in their opinion could really make a tangible difference in the quality of life of the residents and of Victoria’s different stakeholders. This document can be obtained from the Local Council’s offices or can be downloaded from the Council’s website – www.victoria.org.mt
Everyone is invited to attend and participate in an active way to the formulation of this document. An invitation letter was sent to each household. This will make sure that all proposals put forward would really reflect the aspirations of the local community in the interest of our locality, of our Island and in that of our country.
