€1,620 raised for Puttinu Cares by selling off massive figollaA massive figolla measuring 1 metre by 2.2 metres, in the shape of a lamb and prepared by David’s Bakery in Gozo on the initiative of Arkadia Marketing Ltd, raised €1,620 in aid of Puttinu Cares, the organisation which helps people sick with cancer.

The figolla, which was exhibited at the Arkadia Commercial Centre main entrance in Victoria, attracted crowds of Gozitans and Maltese wanting to taste this genuine figolla, as well as being able to have the opportunity to make a donation towards this noble cause. €1,620 raised for Puttinu Cares by selling off massive figollaOn Easter Saturday morning David Mercieca from David’s Bakery and Mr Antoine Portelli, General Manager at Arkadia Marketing cut the figolla in the presence of members from the Puttinu Cares Gozo Committee and a number of volunteers.

This figolla consisted of 70 kgs of pastry, 105 kgs of pure almonds and 5 kgs of icing and decorations. It cost David’s Bakery €600, which he donated to Puttinu Cares.

The figolla was prepared in 20 hours by David himself together with his sons, Manuel and Mark Mercieca.

The Puttinu Cares Gozo Committee would like to give their thanks to all the Gozitans and Maltese for their generosity in aid of this foundation, which recently built a block of apartments in Sutton London in order to offer free accommodation to patients and their relatives.
