Students from the Gozo College Boys Secondary school who are taking a Btec Extended Certificate course in Engineering recently had the opportunity to visit two major factories as part of their study programme.
The students visited ‘Magro Brothers’ and ‘Merit Precision Tools’ at the Xewkija Industrial Estate. At Magro Brothers the students were able to view what is produced at the factory and were also given a talk there. During their visit to Merit Precision Tools the students were given a demonstration of the products at the factory and also were able to see a metal stamping process.
The aim of the visit was to let the students see and experience firsthand several engineering practices that they study about during their lessons.
The College said that these outings are very important, as students in addition to experiencing the actual practices they are taught in school, were also able to get a good idea about the world of work in relation to various aspects of engineering and their practices.
