Last weekend the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo provided the emergency services during Nadur Carnival, as well as the Xewkija Carnival festivities. Over 55 volunteers covered the weekend event in Nadur, with volunteer doctors also in attendance.
Saturday night at Nadur’s Carnival was the busiest. Cases ranged from simple injuries, which required minor first aid, to more serious injuries like Fractures and Head Injuries, some of which required transportation to hospital.
The ERRC said that it worked hand in hand with the local council, Gozo General Hospital and the Malta Police so as to ensure everthing was running smoothly. A clinic was also set up with the capacity to provide aid for up to 15 casualties at the same time.
ERRC also had at its disposal 2 rescue vehicles, 2 ambulances and one logistics support unit with standby generators etc.
The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps would like to thank Nadur and Xewkija Local Councils which entrusted the safety of those present during the Carnival Activities and the Police Force which contributed to the safety of the Corps volunteers while carrying out first aid.
