The Victoria Local Council has said that it is determined to grab the opportunity presented whereby Government is proposing a complete reform in the Local Council’s systems and operations.
The council added that it is to be noted that unfortunately for our locality, when the Council allocation formula was drafted, this did not cater for the particular and complex situations of localities like ours, with the result that the elected represetatives lacked the proper resources, especially financial, to rise to the residents expectations.
Notwithstanding this the council said, all elected Councils have striven hard, against all odds, to do their utmost in the interest of the residents.
The ex-mayors’ committee has already met once and discussed the parameters of its role, together with establishing a road map leading to the Council’s approved submissions.
The Council said it would also like to take the opportunity to thank the ex-mayors who accepted the invitation and are actively participating in the drafting of the document to present the best possible proposals in the general interest.
