Food prices are rising all over the world. This has become one of the major concerns, including in the EU.
However, EU statistics show that during the past year the cost of food in Malta has risen at basically double the rate of the EU. The spending power of Maltese and Gozitans, especially low and medium income earners, is always getting weaker and the risk of more Maltese falling below the poverty level is a tangible one.
Alternattiva Demokratika asks “What is the Maltese govenment doing about all this?” AD urges the Maltese government to ensure that there are no cartels controlling particular products and that fair pricing systems are put into place and enforced.
