Inspire launches a 3-day Induction course for parentsInspire works closely with parents and carers to ensure that a unified holistic approach supports their children, by addressing all aspects of their life… throughout their life. Nevertheless, another important aim for Inspire is to support the parents in their journey as parents of individuals with diverse abilities.

As part of this drive towards enhancing communication with all members of the Inspire community we have developed a 3-day Induction Course, which has been designed for all the parents of our new comers, and aims to inform them with regards to all aspects of the programmes and services that will be of benefit to them and their children.

This Induction Course will take place twice a year May and November and will be divided on 3 separate days, each day aiming to address equally important and interesting topics for our parents, these include:

· Inspires’ Mission Statement

· Overview of Inspires’ Programmes & Services

· Inspires’ Financials and the importance of Fundraising

· Life Strategies and Counselling

· Information about services & benefits around Malta & Gozo

· Specific information relating to the programme/service the child will be attending

Another new project within the Parent Relations Department is the Parent Circle. This group of parents, whose children attend Inspire, will be meeting together with staff once every quarter to discuss together as a team the on-going development of the programmes and services within the organization.

This forum will also provide parents with an avenue to discuss concerns, raise awareness, as well as encourage more parents to be active participants within the Inspire Community. Our first meeting will be held at the beginning of April 2013.

The Parent Relations Department believes that these two new ventures will strongly improve our communication links and rapport between the organization and the parents. It will also provide parents with the support they require to enable them to cope more effectively when it comes to providing their children with the opportunity to reach their maximum potential, as well as to cope as a family.

Parents of children, attending any Inspire programme, wanting further information should contact Charlene Borg, Parent Relations Manager via email on Charlene.borg@inspire.org.mt or on 20928100
