Cardinal Levada vists the Sacred Heart Seminary in Gozo

His Eminence Cardinal William Joseph Levada an American Cardinal of the Catholic Church, last week visited the Sacred Heart Major Seminary of Gozo. He was accompanied by Mgr Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Guzeppi Mercieca, Archbishop Emeritus of Malta and Mgr Charles J. Scicluna, Auxiliary Bishop of Malta. They joined the community at dinner.
Cardinal William Joseph Levada is the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. He was born in 1936, at Los Angelis, California, in The United States. He served as Auxiliary Bishop in the diocese where he was born. He then served as Archbishop in the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon, Archbishop of San Francisco in California and Apostolic Administrator of Santa Rosa, California. I
In 2005 Cardinal William Joseph Levada replaced Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the present Pope Benedict XVI, as Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. He then occupied this post up to July 2012.
His Eminence, Cardinal Levada was in Malta to take part in a number of meetings. During his stay in Malta, he crossed over to Gozo for a visit to the Seminary. He thanked the community of the Seminary for their welcome, wished them success in their studies and gave them his blessing.
