First Malta Records Award in Gozo goes to village of Zebbug

Zebbug was awarded the first Malta Records Award yesterday evening, in a unique attempt to construct the largest Christmas tree using a Christmas log.
The award was presented by the Malta Records Award representative Mr. Josef Aquilina to Zebbug Mayor Mr. Nicky Saliba, during a soiree’ at the Zebbug Parish Center, which included speeches delivered by the Mayor, the Malta Records representative and Archpriest Can. Fr. Ruben Micallef. local choir ‘Regina Angelorum’ together with local talented pianist Mr. Franco Cefai who accompanied the soiree with a variety of Christmas carols.
The aim of this event, organised by the local council together with a group of volunteers, is to collect funds for a very good and worthy cause, Puttinu Cares (Gozo Committee) by selling portions of this original form of Christmas Tree.
The Zebbug Council warmly invites everyone to visit the Zebbug Parish Center as soon as possible to see this unique form of Christmas Tree and purchase some mouthwatering portions while it lasts.
All proceeds will go to a very worthy cause, Puttinu Cares, the organisation which helps children who are suffering from cancer, as well as their families.
The Parish Centre will be open from 5.00pm Saturday until till late and again on Sunday, the 23rd of December when it will be open all day.
