A 44-year-old Gozitan man is in hospital suffering serious injuries after an argument, allegedly with his brother-in-law, turned sour, the police said.
The police named the man as Saviour Micallef, who was injured in the head after being allegedly hit with an aluminium rod.
He was first taken to the Gozo General Hospital but was airlifted to St Luke’s Hospital after he was found to be in critical condition. His condition is now stable. His brother-in-law, Emanuel Rapa, was arrested.
The Gozo police were informed of the case at about 7.30 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived at the residence where the incident took place they found Mr Micallef sprawled on the ground with a severe wound to the head.
Duty Magistrate Paul Coppini was informed and appointed court experts to assist in an inquiry.
