Gozo Rugby Club to field teams in both League and UnionThe Malta Rugby League (MRL) would like to confirm to supporters of the MRL that the Gozo entry in MRL competition will return to being known as Gozo Rugby League (Gozo RL).

The Gozo Rugby Club (Gozo RC), formerly known as Gozo Rugby League (Gozo RL), a foundation club of the MRL, will field teams in both Rugby League and Rugby Union however the Rugby League entry will now be referred to as Gozo Rugby League (Gozo RL).

Gozo RL will continue to participate in the MRL Championship, fixtures against touring opposition, tag rugby and other MRL associated events.

Gozo RL was formed in 2010 and ratified in 2011 before announcing a three year major sponsorship deal with Ta’ Mattew Fish Farms Ltd earlier this year. They will continue to feature in their celebrated green and white playing kit and train out of the Nadur Football Ground.

Currently, three Gozo RL players feature in the Malta Knights Rugby League National Team, namely Gozo RL captain-coach Clifford Debattista, Gary Hili and Shan Francois Hussain.

On Saturday Gozo Bulls won their first ever fixture in the Malta Rugby Football Union (MRFU) 10’s by defeating Kavallieri RFC 17-15 at the Marsa Sports Ground.
