School children to receive books for World Children’s Day

Today the Commissioner for Children launched the activities, that will be taking place in order to commemorate World Children’s Day, at the Floriana Primary School. The theme for this year’s events is that of well being. Various sessions were held in the different classrooms of Floriana Primary school in order to promote well being.
As part of the celebrations, all children in primary school, attending state schools, church schools as well as independent schools will be receiving publications focusing on well being.
Kindergarten 1 – Children’s Rights Game;
Kindergarten 2 – Colouring book promoting Children’s Rights;
Years 1 and 2 – Activity Book on Healthy Food;
Years 3 and 4 – Comic Book promoting Healthy Eating and Exercise;
Year 5 – Comic Book on Internet Safety;
Year 6 – Comic Book entitled ‘Mark’s Dream’ which addresses Emotional Well Being.
In order to commemorate this important day the Office of the Commissioner for children is also organising a family event on Sunday 18th of November at the Girgenti Palace between 10:00am and 4:00pm. During this event there will be various fun activities for children, promoting well being.
The families attending the event will also be able to visit the Palace which is currently one of the Prime Minister’s residences. The main sponsors for this event are: The Office of the Prime Minister, The Ministry for Resources and Rural Affairs, Malta Dairy Products Ltd. and Farsons Group of Companies.
The Office of the Commissioner for Children will also be launching a research study on Children in Out-Of-Home Care on the 22nd of November. The study will be available online on www.tfal.org.mt.
