Malta Airport MetOffice said this afternoon that following various requests for information, it is issuing this public notice regarding the weather in the coming days.
The MetOffice said that between Thursday night and Saturday, it is expected that there will be showers which could be locally thundery at times.
“This weather is a result of a cold front associated with a depression over Italy and which will extend from the Adriatic Sea towards northeast Algeria tomorrow Thursday, the 13th of September and which will move south-eastwards crossing the Maltese Islands overnight between Thursday and Friday.
“This front will bring rain-bearing clouds into the region together with cooler air making the atmosphere more unstable over a still relatively warm sea. This will lead to the formation of more convective clouds into the low pressure system, resulting in showers with thunders.
“The wind is expected to veer into a mainly Northwesterly direction and become rather strong to strong, the MetOffice report concluded.
