Justice Minister visits Xaghra Council administrative offices

On Wednesday Dr Chris Said, Minister of Justice, Public Dialogue and Family, visited the Xaghra Local Council’s administrative offices from where a customer care service for the Social Security Department is provided once a week.
Through this service, all Gozitan residents can apply for any type of social security benefit, report any change in circumstances, apply for the pink card, submit medical certificates and make requests for any type of information related to social security. This service is offered every Wednesday between 8am and noon.
During the past years, Local Councils were given various new responsibilities together with the necessary resources to offer a larger number of services in their respective localities. Local Councils are encouraged to contribute to activities which lead to social inclusion and offer services which help to ameliorate the quality of life of its citizens and communities. Gharb Local Council also provides the Social Security customer care service from its Civic Centre.
Xaghra Mayor Joe Cordina spoke about the work which the Council is doing for the benefit of Xaghra residents. Mayor Cordina, Deputy Mayor Aaron Agius, councilor Dr. Joseph Attard and the Executive Secretary Mr. Mark Formosa were also present for this meeting.
