The Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch has partnered with the Armed Forces of Malta to train a group of AFM soldiers as qualified combat Medics. The training has been going on for the last two years at Luqa barracks. Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch felt that it will be more beneficial for these combat medics to gain more in depth experience and training by undergoing a placement in Italy.
This was to make them in touch with other combat medics, besides experiencing new skills in this highly specialized area of pre hospital care. Doing a placement meant that the combat medics would become more aware and use equipment that is not currently available in Malta such as HAZMAT decontamination, CBRN military ambulances etc.
The courses took place in different locailties in Italy, including Rome, Milan, Turin and Bari.
