A memorable summer’s evening ‘Concert Under the Stars’

The Gozo CCU Foundation held its 5th ‘Concert Under the Stars’ at Ta Frenc on Sunday. This very popular evening, was hailed as a resounding success, “with great food, wine and entertainment,” the Foundation said.
In her speech the Chairman of the Foundation, Dame Carmen Bellamy, said that “anyone who visits the Gozo CCU/ITU Ward can always be assured of excellent care. The equipment that the Gozo CCU Foundation has and is equipping the Ward with, enhances the health care already given by the excellent nursing staff, consultants and staff of the Gozo Hospital.” Carmen continued that she and her Committee are “delighted that together with the continued support and generosity of many, they can continue in their work to help save lives on this beautiful island.”
The wonderful entertainment during the evening was provided by the Stella Maris Trio and Essential Trio.Carmen extended a big thank you to all those businesses and individuals for their kind and various types of sponsorship and support, as well as to the persons who made cash donations. Special thanks went to George Bonello of Sidroc Ltd for sponsoring the wine and George Agius of Marsovin who sponsored the water.
Ta Frenc also received a special mention from the Foundation. Carmen thanked them for the use of the beautiful location and for their hard work in preparing for this event. “Ta Frenc has been a great supporter of The Foundation since its inception six years ago and has assisted the Foundation in many ways. The restaurant helped tremendously in the evening’s event and contributed most generously. Mario Schembri the Executive Chef prepared a fantastic meal and Joseph and his staff gave us all a splendid service.”
Rachel Galea a well known local Artist brought some of her beautiful paintings to exhibit and these proved to be very popular.
Another local Artist, Justin Falzon donated two etchings. Justin studied in Florence and is now teaching in Gozo. The traditional technique used to make these etchings has been used for around 500 years. The Gozo Arts School now has the equipment that is required to carry out this type of art.
The Gozo CCU Foundation expressed its sincere gratitude to artist, Justin Falzon, The Gozo Centre for Art & Craft, Directorate Customer Services and the Ministry for Gozo.
The continued support is much appreciated so that the Gozo CCU Foundation can carry on with its work to help the people of Gozo.
