Committee members of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps recently held a meeting with the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono at the Gozo Ministry.
The E.R.R.C. delegation was led by its President, Dr Raymond Xerri, Vice President, Mr Mario Saliba and Secretary General, Mr Etienne Micallef.
The E.R.R.C. said that “the Minister for Gozo made a commitment to allocate a piece of land to the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps so it could be converted into an operational centre with garages to house its ambulances and rescue vehicles.”
In the meeting the committee members gave a resume of what the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps had achieved since it commenced its operations. This includes the ambulance service support given to the Gozo General Hospital, Blood Donation campaigns, diving related projects, Lifeguarding service in Gozo and Comino, educational talks in various schools including Skola Sajf and how the Corps implemented the EcoGozo funding scheme last year.
The E.R.R.C. committee members described how the Corps, with the strong will and dedication of its volunteers, managed to acquire the necessary equipment and vehicles from scratch to start to operate and deliver the best service possible.
Also discussed during the meeting were the different ways and means that the Corps would be better able to collaborate with the Ministry for Gozo in future projects for the benefit of the society.
