Gozo seminar on ethics and values in social & civil dialogue

The Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) will be holding another seminar from the series of seminars within the Closer to Europe Project, which is part financed through the European Social Fund.
The next seminar and training will be held in Gozo at the Grand Hotel, on the 24th and 25th of May 2012 and will be tackling Ethics and values in social and civil dialogue & the role of the media.
The objectives of the seminar, training and tutorials are to overview key principles and questions related to the role of the media in social and civil dialogue. The discussion will evolve and tackle a number of ethical and practical issues related to media work and explore how the media can be best used to build public support for economic issues such as competitiveness and social issues like employment rights and responsibilities, addressing poverty and social inclusion, without reinforcing stereotypes or creating further stigma or sensationalism.
The seminar will be led by Dr Michaela Moser, Born 1967 in Kufstein/Austria, based in Vienna; MA in Theology; MA in Public Relations, PhD in Philosophy (Social Ethics); longstanding work experience in NGO management, PR, lobbying and public affairs management, with e.g. the Austrian Anti-Poverty Network “Die Armutskonferenz,” the Austrian Forum of Catholic Adult education, various youth and women’s organisations and initiatives; free-lance work as a journalist, PR-manager, editor, social expert, university lecturer; currently employed as an information officer with the umbrella organisation of the officially recognized debt advice centres in Austria (ASB Schuldnerberatungen GmbH); Vice-President of the European Anti-Poverty Network EAPN; coordinator of the European Consumer Debt Network ecdn, author of various articles and a book on poverty, social exclusion and inequalities.
