With the aim of encouraging children to enjoy reading, the Xaghra Local Council once again organised a ‘Library Day’ as part of the Xaghra Day activities.
The Council said that the ‘Patri Gigi Camilleri SJ’ Public Library, is one of the most active libraries in Gozo with an increasing number of residents and Gozitan people who make use of its services and on the morning of ‘Library Day’ several educational visits took place by the children attending the Xaghra Primary School. Some of these children offered a book from their own private collection to be included in the list of books offered by the library.
Following an invitation by the Council, Maltese author Ms. Nathalie Portelli was present for morning’s activities and signed various books for the children.
Xaghra Mayor, Joe Cordina, together with councilor Maria Grima (responsible for the library) and Assistant Principal and Librarian Josephine Sultana were also present, as part of the Xaghra Day celebrations.
