Restructuring works now underway at the Gozo Hospital

Ongoing maintenance and restructuring works are currently underway at the Gozo General Hospital .
The work includes removal of asbestos soffit from the corridors, the installation of new electric systems in the corridors and waiting rooms, installation of new electricity system to reduce the voltage in the fire alarms as well as the CCTV set-up, which will aid in the conservation of energy.
There will also be a new water service, tiles replaced and new door and window frames, bumper railing and the installation of a mineral fibre laminated false ceiling among others.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, accompanied by the Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Anthony Livori, recently made a tour of the areas undergoing maintenance and commented that the work is part of an ongoing programme of improvementd to facilities related to health in Gozo.
The Minister added that “in the Radiology Department, more than 17,000 imaging examinations have taken place, in less than a year, including 1400 CT scans. It was also now possible for Gozitan women to take part in the National Breast Screening Programme in the hospital without having to travel to Malta. Also planned for the future, is the availability of bone density tests at the hospital.”
The Minister concluded by saying that additional ongoing works in the hospital included work in the operating theatre, which is part of an investment project worth €3.3million.
