Recreation area inaugurated at id- Dahla tac-Cnus, Sannat

A new recreation area has been inaugurated by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono in Sannat, at a location known as id- Dahla tac-Cnus. Also present was the Mayor of Sannat Mr Philip Vella and Dr Stefan Buontempo, Labour Spokesperson for Local Government.
The Minister said that “those who live in the area, as well as those who visit, will now have an another place of recreation to enjoy on the island. It will also be an added attraction to the village of Sannat, which is popular with both Maltese and tourists alike, especially for those who enjoy walks in the countryside.”
“The recreational area will be complemented by other work that is projected to get underway in the coming weeks,” the Minister added.
The project was financed through the eco-Gozo scheme, in collaboration with the Gozitan local councils and administrative committees.
The Minister said that the “2010 – 2012 action plan for eco-Gozo includes maintenance and landscaping in rural areas, restoration of old buildings, construction of rainwater reservoirs, changes to energy saving lightbulbs, improving historical and cultural heritage, educational campaigns, initiatives related to quality of life and a clean rural and marine environment. 51 of these projects which have been concluded so far, have involved almost 66,000 man hours and 32 full-time workers. They have been carried out in collaboration with NGOs, local councils and administrative committees.”
