A 52-year-old man from Victoria was yesterday charged with having defiled a 14 year old boy at the Gozo Sports Complex. The alleged incident occurred in the early afternoon of May 23rd.
The man was charged also with having defiled a minor by lewd acts as well as having kept him under arrest against his will.
The accused pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a deposit of Lm500 and a personal guarantee of Lm1,500. One of the conditions imposed on the accused is not to visit the sports complex until the completion of the proceedings initiated against him.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, ordered a ban on the publication of the names of both the accused and of the child involved.
The prosecution was led by Police Inspectors Antonello Grech and Raymond Aquilina.
