Students, mothers, grandparents and educators this morning attended a health living brunch, which had been organisd by the Minstry for Gozo with a view to promote a healthy living principle and lifestyle as well as help in improving a person’s quality of life especially in food selection and preparation.
In her welcome speech the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, explained how the “work of the Ministry for Gozo in the performance of the eco-Gozo vision, is not only linked to a better environment but also gives importance to the individual in its entirety. Particularly in the areas of social, health and education, which are crucial for individual and social development.”
The event included presentations as well as the chance to meet various professionals who gave practical advice based on principles on improving the quality of life.
Students attending courses at the Institute for Tourism Studies in Gozo together with their teachers, prepared snacks to distribute to those present. The speakers included Dr John Xuereb who is the schools’s doctor, Eileen Vella, who works as a nutritionist at the Gozo General Hospital, Felix Busuttil, the Director of YADA and chef, George Borg.
The Health Awareness Committee at the Gozo Hospital will be organising more public activities to raise awareness for the need to adopt healthy practices such as a balanced diet, physical exercise and regular blood tests.
