Alternattiva Demokratika leader Harry Vassallo has challenged Evironment Minister George Pullicino to declare that the Spring hunting season will not be opened.
He said the Nationalist Party and the Malta Labour Party was unable to take a decision on hunting and were only saying they would respect a decision by the European Court. Whoever was truly European should respect European directives and declare that spring hunting could not take place, Dr Vassallo said.
The country, he added, could not remain hostage to a few because of the votes which the Nationalist Party and the Labour Party wanted to win.
Dr Vassallo said that other EU directives were also not being respected , including the SEA directive and the directive on air quality.
He also reiterated his party’s support to BirdLife (Malta) following last Sunday’s arson of three cars.
