Following Vodafone Malta’s nationwide search for its new face to feature in Vodafone’s 2008 advertising campaigns, Thea Saliba was the people’s and judges’ choice for this campaign. Thea won a one year contract and will be representing Vodafone in upcoming marketing campaigns for 2008. Thea has also won €1,164 / Lm500 in cash, a Vodafone live! handset, one year Vodafone Smart Connection for free and other Vodafone merchandize.
All Vodafone customers having an MMS enabled mobile phone were invited to participate in this exclusive promotion by sending a photo of their face via MMS. Both the finalists and the winner were chosen through a voting process that saw 50% of the votes effected by Vodafone customers and 50% of the votes by a panel of judges. The people’s votes throuh MMS for Thea amounted to 119 whilst the judges’ votes amounted to 550.
The panel of judges included a professional photographer and a lawyer who oversaw the judging process.
“This is the first time Vodafone did something of this sort. We gave our customers the possibility to be part of our advertising campaigns and actually be the Vodafone Face. We’re very happy that Thea was chosen as she is a very talented teenager. She also adheres to our Life is Now concept as she tries to make the best out of each minute in her life and each opportunity that comes along,” said Alison Bezzina, Brand Senior Executive at Vodafone Malta.
Thea Saliba was born in 1991. She started her singing career from a young age and since then, she has participated in various popular musical events and contests, amongst them the 2005 Malta Junior Song for Europe in which her group Thea & Friends classified first and represented Malta with the song “Make it Right”.
