Open day & auction at Id-dar tal-Providenza this Sunday

Fr Martin Micallef, Director if Id-Dar tal-Providenza recently launched the 16th edition of the annual Open Day which is being organized by RTK for Charity this coming Sunday, January 1st 2012 to collect funds for the Home.
The live television broadcast will start at 9.00am with Holy Mass from the chapel of the Home and will continue up to just after midnight when the total sum collected during the day will be announced. Personalities visiting the Home during the Open Day will include the President of Malta, Dr George Abela; the Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi; the Leader of the Opposition, Dr Joseph Muscat; the Archbishop, Mgr Pawl Cremona; the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech and the Archbishop Emeritus, Mgr Joseph Mercieca.
During the day, the televised programme will include entertainment provided by the top singers on the island, various entertainers and village bands to create a festive family atmosphere. A shuttle service is being provided to the Home from the old runway on Triq San Niklaw that is being turned into a car park This is being done to encourage drivers to park in these sites and avoid the usual congestion that clogs the only road that leads to Dar tal-Providenza.

For the last few years Id-Dar tal-Providenza has also successfully organised an auction. This year’s edition will include works of art donated by local artists, exhibited at the hall of Id-Dar tal-Providenza and held on 1st January 2012 supported by Mr Pierre Grech Pillow of Obelisk Auctions.
Bids can be placed from 10 a.m. on 1 January 2012 by calling a number which will be listed soon. The closing bid time will also be confirmed very soon.

The persons taking the calls will only take the bids and for any information on the paintings please refer below. When phoning you will be requested to give your name and surname, your id card number, your contact details and the value of the bid you are placing against the particular item. Please note that bids lower than the current highest bid will not be accepted. Each bid under Euro 1,000 will have to be of a minimum increment of Euro 25. Each bid above Euro 1,000 will have to be of a minimum increment of Euro 100.
As bids are placed throughout the day the current highest bid for each item will be listed at regular intervals.
