Frankie Camilleri wins the Gozo Tourism Worker of the Year

For the fourth consecutive year the Gozo Tourism Association organised it’s annual event during which the Tourism Worker of the Year is awarded. This Annual Award is bestowed to the worker in the tourism sector on Gozo, who distinguishes himself/herself in the performance of his/her duties in the touristic sector.
This year, Mr. Frankie Camilleri, aged 24 years, who is a waiter in the resort of Xlendi, won this prestigious award. He was officially announced as winner by Dr. Peter Fenech LL.D chairman of the adjudicating board in the presence of the Acting President of Malta, Anton Tabone, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said, Anton Refalo, Labour Party spokesman for Gozo and Gozitan MP the Fredrick Azzopardi.
The main objectives of this award are to acknowledge the service given by the employee during the performance of his/her duties in the Gozitan touristic sector, and to acknowledge the employee who with his/her performance and his/her qualities was a role model for their colleagues.
Another aim is to reward the employee who through his/her performance is not only enhancing his/her place of work, but is also instrumental in improving the touristic industry on Gozo. This award is also intended to recognise the employee who in the performance of his/her duties, entices confidence in a career in the tourism sector.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, presented the Award to Mr. Frankie Camilleri, commending his achievement, whilst also giving merit to all the nominees and all those who work within the tourism industry in Gozo. Those present were also addressed by Mr. Josef Formosa Gauci, MTA CEO, Mr. Paul Scicluna, GTA Chairman, Mr. Joe Muscat GTA CEO and Mr. Marcel Bonnici ETC Gozo Manager.
Mr. Camilleri was selected by the adjudicating board from amongst nine nominations, including seven men and two women, coming from different Gozitan touristic sectors
