For the ninth consecutive year, Schola Cantorum Jubilate presented ‘Carols by Candlelight.’ The choir was under the direction of Marouska Attard.
Carols by Candlelight 2011 was held on two evenings last weekend, at St. Augustine’s Monastery in Victoria. A dinner followed the concert and some of the patrons who attended the evening also had the opportunity to spend the night at the Monastery.
The repertoire included various popular pieces which are a must for Christmas like ‘O Holy Night’, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Adeste Fidelis’. There were also pieces by the ‘Christmas composer,’ John Rutter among other old Christmas favourites.
An exhibition was also held in the foyer by young established artist Paul Stellini.
The proceeds of this event will be forwarded to Guzeppa Debono Home which caters for single-mothers and organises pro-life activities.
The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, attended the evening.
