GUG supports the GTA's pre-budget 2012 proposalsThe Gozo University Group, said that “as the only stakeholder for the Gozitan youths and students it believes that the pre-budget proposals presented by the Gozo Tourism Association are a good starting point for the development of a better Gozo which will result for a better future for the Gozitans students.”

“An investment for an air link for Gozo in an option in which the Gozo University Group firmly supports and firmly believes that a study should also be commissioned for this option and thus have a broader and more sustainable view for the possible options for Gozo, not only the permanent link,” GUG said

“Infrastructural investment in cruise berthing facilities off Mgarr and Marsalforn, is important for Gozo in order to be able to attract the cruise liner industry which will surely be of benefit for the Gozitan economy.”

With regards to the proposals in regards of Marketing the Destination, Tourists Establishments Product Enhancement and Regional Statistics, GUG said that it “believes that they are crucial for the creation of jobs for the University graduates. Direct involvement of the university graduates in promoting Gozo as a distinct destination and having exclusive right in promoting Gozo will surely be of improvement for the image of Gozo.” Furthermore, GUG continued, “having regional statistics is essential for Gozo and for the policy makers to fully understand and be aware of the real situation of the island. GUG would like to propose a further step to this proposal, which is that of establishing a regional office for statistics since already Gozitan graduates work within the National Statistics Office (NSO). This would serve as encouragement for others to support regional structures, which would result beneficial for the future of Gozo and for the creation of employment.”
