Armed Forces of Malta Remembrance Day commemoration

The Armed Forces of Malta today commemorated Rembrance Day and honoured its military personnel, who died in the service of their country or whilst serving in the Force. A concelebratory mass was held at the Luqa Barracks military chapel, officiated by the Rev Fr Joseph Meli the military chaplain. An eulogy for the recently departed Gunner Jesmond Mercieca who served at ‘A’ Company, 1st Regiment was also read.
Following the service wreath-laying took place at the AFM grave site at Addolorata Cemetery, led by Commander AFM, Brigadier Martin G Xuereb and other senior staff officers, including the Italian Military Mission commanding officer Colonel Rocco Vastola.
Remembrance Day, commemorating the two World Wars, will be celebrated in Malta on Sunday, the 13th of Novemeber, at the Cenotaph in Floriana at 11.00hrs.
